I show up as a community volunteer, mentor to youth, encouraging potential and helping make higher education possible. I serve on the Community Foundation for Monterey County's Women’s Leadership Council Scholarship Committee, reading the stories of students trying to find a way to pay for college - to fulfill their potential and the promise of a better life for their family and community.

I trust in their hard work and their hopes for more.  Hartnell College is where Salinas Valley students become our nurses, welders, teachers, farmers, engineers, leaders and inspirations for the siblings and others to follow. Their educational institution must have leadership that is equipped to work for them, to prepare them for the rapid changes happening in our workforce and to do that by providing career options, accessible pathways for students from King City to Castroville.

Trustees must work with expediency and transparency with student success at the core of every decision. My father, a World War II veteran who lived to the age of 105, allowed me the honor of being his caregiver, which gave me an opportunity to reflect on service. My service has included Girls, Inc., Salinas Rotary, Salinas Airshow and more. I am not a politician - I am your neighbor who has spent a lifetime showing up.
